The current research efforts are directed at understanding where and how low-affinity drugs interact with proteins and what structural and dynamical consequences are on these proteins due to drug binding. Both experimental (primarily NMR) and computational (primarily MD simulations) approaches are taken in the investigations. The ultimate goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms of the action of low-affinity drugs and to devise rational designs of safer drugs with minimal side effects.
